Teams from The University of Western Australia Business School have won second and third prizes in the 2010 Deloitte Dream Team competition.

The 2010 Deloitte Dream Team competition invited Western Australian university students to address a realistic business case study, gaining valuable real-life work experience and the opportunity to win a cash prize.

The competition required each of the 12 university teams to take on the fictitious profile of a Joint Venture participant in a large Oil & Gas project. They were tasked with developing crisis management plans, corporate governance, corporate communications and financial strategies.

In addition to winning second and third places, UWA students also walked away with cash prizes. Team members from the second placed team included Theresa Lim (Commerce/Economics/Law), Catherine Mah (Law/Commerce), Ajay Malhorta (Commerce/Law) and Jefri Raja Azlam (Commerce). Third place went to Neeshima Rao (Economics/Engineering), Gregory Tsaplin (Commerce/Engineering), Maximilian Bong (Commerce) and Cheryl Lim (Commerce/Economics).

The competition is now in its sixth year. Competition Director Nicole Musolino praised the skills of the students. ‘This year has seen the highest standard yet - it amazed me how savvy and innovative the students are,' she said. ‘The top 48 were chosen from over 250 young professionals and all have extremely promising futures ahead of them. We hope to see some of them joining Deloitte in the future!'

Dean of the Business School, Professor Tracey Horton, congratulated the students on their success.
