One of the world's most highly cited mathematicians, Winthrop Professor Cheryl Praeger AM FAA, will confront the crisis that faces us as the supply of maths graduates and teachers fails to meet the demand in a public lecture where she will address the question - What must Australia do to properly equip itself for the future?

Winthrop Professor Praeger is Director of the Centre for Mathematics of Symmetry and Computation at The University of Western Australia, an Australian Research Council Federation Fellow, and the 2009 WA Scientist of the Year.

TITLE: The Unreasonable Effectiveness of Mathematics

WHEN:            6pm Tuesday 18 May

WHERE:          Social Sciences Lecture Theatre, UWA. The nearest car park is P3 off Hackett Entrance 1.

COST:             The lecture is free and open to the public, no RSVP required.
