The closing date for this year's Australian Research Council Discovery Projects round for funding in 2011 has passed and many of you will be catching up on lost sleep! Congratulations and many thanks to all the Faculty members who contributed to achieving a record number of submissions this year.

Of the record 213 proposals submitted through UWA, 51 involved lead CIs or Fellowship applicants from FECM.  And there may be additional proposals submitted through other faculties and universities involving FECM staff or students. This compares with 151 UWA applications submitted last year, of which 41 involved FECM members.

Many thanks to all involved - not only those named on a proposal, but to those who contributed by writing parts of one or providing advice and feedback during development. It's been tremendous to see the effort put in by so many.

Just a little reminder that there are a number of avenues for seeking advice and feedback on developing applications for different funding schemes, including through your peers, the Faculty Research Development Officer ( Debbie Thackray ) and the Faculty Associate Dean Research ( Rachel Cardell-Oliver ).

We wish you success in the outcomes!
