David Andrich, Chapple Professor of Education, was asked by the Minister of Education, Hon. Dr Elizabeth Constable MLA, to review the Curriculum Framework.

The review focuses on curriculum, assessment and reporting policies and procedures in Western Australian schools.

The report is titled ‘ Review of the Curriculum Framework for curriculum, assessment and reporting purposes in WA schools, with particular reference to years Kindergarten to Year 10 ’.

The report was released by the Minister on Tuesday 9 February 2010 and is available on the Curriculum Council website in summary or full format.

The terms of reference were:

• To review the Curriculum Framework for curriculum, assessment and reporting purposes in Western Australian schools, with particular reference to years Kindergarten to Year 10.
• To advise on the relationship between the Curriculum Framework and proposed national curriculum.
• To consider the impact of any proposed changes on teachers and schools in Western Australia.

There are implications here for initial teacher education and for teacher professional development.
