Former senior editor at Text Publishing, Melanie Ostell will be joining the staff of UWA Publishing (UWAP) in March in the position of Publisher.

Melanie will bring over 20 years publishing experience to the role during Kate McLeod's maternity leave.

Most recently a freelance editor and publishing consultant, Melanie has also been a teacher at RMIT and mentor for PhD Creative Writing students.

Director at UWAP Terri-ann White said she was thrilled to be welcoming Melanie into a team of highly talented professionals, many of whom returned to Perth to be part of the new-look UWAP.

"One of my ambitions is to contribute to a viable and professional publishing industry and community in Perth, and Melanie's exemplary track record in Australian publishing will add to this wonderfully," she said.

Melanie joins UWAP just in time to participate in a number of speaking and chairing engagements as part of the Perth Writers' Festival.
