The Faculty is delighted to offer our congratulations to PhD student, Emily S. Tan , who has been awarded Best Presentation Award at the 20th Australasian Association for Engineering Education (AAEE 2009) for presenting a paper titled " How Consulting Engineers Interact with their Clients."

AAEE 2009 was held at the University of Adelaide from 6th - 9th December. AAEE's Annual Conference is Australasia's premiere engineering education event. There were 177 papers presented by scholars from Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK, Canada, Botswana, Korea, Malaysia, and Slovakia.

Emily's research interest is in the areas of engineering communication, practice, and education and it focuses on the study of engineers and their clients. She is committed to seek insights and guidance that are meaningful to engineering practitioners, while also provide better understanding for educators in preparing their engineering students well for the real work and life experience.

Her supervisor, Winthrop Professor James Trevelyan , stated: "That is no small achievement for a graduate student in the first twelve months of her PhD studies."  This is a great success in Emily's research career and we wish her many succeses for the future.
