Round 4 of the Australia-India Strategic Research Fund (AISRF) is now open and with newly awarded increased funding provides great opportunities for projects in science and technology. Application closing date is 24 December 2009 .

The Australian government is contributing $10 million per annum for five years to the fund, commencing 2009/10, matched by The Indian Government.

The fund assists Australian researchers from both the public and private sectors to participate in leading edge scientific research projects and workshops with Indian scientists and supports the development of strategic alliances between Australian and Indian researchers.

The expanded fund will continue to deliver the successful competitive grants program which supports ‘bottom-up' investigator-initiated research. The two funds which comprise this program include:

The expanded fund will also introduce a ‘ Grand Challenge ' component to support more applied research and engage industry and other end user partners to produce outcomes that help address some of the pressing challenges that both countries face.

Submission process
Please send a paper copy of the application and a UWA Application Cover Sheet (Gold Form) to the UWA Research Grants Office (RGO) by 14 December, in order to receive feedback and advice. Applicants will be responsible for submitting the final version of the application on-line to AISRF, with a copy to the RGO for administrative purposes.
