The Australian Academy of Science (AAS) , in association with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) , offers Postdoctoral (up to 6 years post PhD award) and Invitational Fellowships (short or long-term) in Japan. Researchers in any field of natural sciences, including technology, engineering and medicine may apply.

AAS travel fellowships offer a great opportunity to establish or build upon collaborations, enhancing success in other funding schemes such as Australian Research Council and DIISR International Science Linkage. Success rates are often high.

Postdoctoral Fellowships are for a period of twelve to twenty-four months; PhD to have been awarded on or after 2 April 2004, or to be awarded before the grant starts.

Invitational Fellowships are either short term, for fourteen to sixty days, or long term, for two to ten months.

Applications close: Friday 5 February 2010.
