Four UWA students were recognised as recipients of Australian Computer Society (ACS) Foundation scholarships for 2009. The Certificates of Recognition where presented by Hon Troy Buswell, Minister for Science Treasurer; Minister for Commerce; Science and Innovation; Housing and Works and Patron of the ACS Foundation in WA at the ACS Foundation presentations on Wednesday 28 October 2009 at Parliament House.

Students receiving certificates were David Stewart , final year Bachelor of Computer Science, Shivank Kaul , Master of Information Technology, Anastasia Tjandra , Bachelors of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science and Yuki Osada , Bachelor of Computer and Mathematical Sciences.

As part of their scholarships donated by CSG , both Shivank Kaul and David Stewart spent 16 weeks Work Integrated Learning at CSG , training as an ERP developers. Anastasia Tjandra's scholarship is donated by Atamo.

During 12 weeks this summer Anastatsia will gain valuable work experience working on hardware and software development projects. First year student Yuki Osada has received a scholarship co-donated by Westnet and the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering. He was awarded the scholarship for his contribution to the School.

As a result of their scholarships both Shivank Kaul and David Stewart have accepted graduate offers with CSG .

Attendees at the function included John Ridge, Executive Director, ACS Foundation , The Hon Kate Doust, Shadow Minister for Energy; Science and Innovation, David Clarke, Chair ACS WA, key representatives from local ICT organisations, government departments and UWA staff.

Professor Rachel Cardell-Oliver , Professor Mark Reynolds and Rachael Offer where in attendance to see the scholars receive their recognition.
