The second round of the
Australia Africa Fellowship Program
is now open.
Applications from Australian organisations close on 11 December 2009.
Australia Africa Fellowships (AAFs) are a component of the Australian Scholarships for Africa (ASA) program. The ASA program is a key part of the expanded development assistance program to Africa and enables Australia to leverage its knowledge, expertise, educational facilities and research capabilities to build Africa's capacity to achieve the MDGs.
AAFs are for short term study, research and professional attachment programs in Australia delivered by Australian organisations.
Through the AAF program, the Australian Government seeks to provide African managers and practitioners with access to Australian-standard educational, training or professional development opportunities which better equip them to develop and apply sound policy and practice in their field of expertise. At the same time, the AAF program offers Australian organisations, in priority sectors, the opportunity to deepen and broaden their links with leaders and professionals in eligible countries in Africa.
Eligibility
Australian host organisations
A wide range of Australian organisations (including academic and research institutions, business, industry, media, NGOs, professional groups and government) may apply to host AAF program fellows. To qualify, organisations will be required to demonstrate relevance of their proposal to the required fellowship programs. Grant funding of up to $35,000 per fellow is available on a competitive basis.
Selected organisations will host mid-career public-sector professionals that have already been nominated by African partner governments. Fellowship proposals should take into account the positions and level of experience of the nominated fellows to maximise content relevance. Details of the nominated fellows are available upon request.
Fellows
AusAID, in cooperation with the relevant partner governments in Africa, will be responsible for selection of fellows.
Application information
Australia Africa Fellowships will be awarded to Australian organisations through a one-step competitive grant process.
