Students from The University of Western Australia will experience ‘bedlessness' tonight - and in the process help real homeless youth in Perth and in Cambodia.

The ‘Great Sleepout' is organised by Gemma Williamson, a tutor at St Catherine's College, and will take place in the underpass opposite Trinity College.

"We're going to give up the comfort of our own beds to raise awareness and funds for those in need," Ms Williamson said.

More than 40 participants, from ‘college row' will meet at St Catherine's at 8pm with a gold coin to watch the film Holly, about child sex-trafficking in Cambodia. They will then move to the underpass, carrying their bedding. The sleepout will end with breakfast at 6am tomorrow.

Money raised will be donated to Mission Australia's Youth Accommodation Support Services and Awareness Cambodia - a Perth-based group that has established an orphanage in Cambodia for children orphaned as a result of HIV/AIDS.
