All staff members interested in exploring ways to support group work activities and customise the student learning experience are invited to participate in this workshop.

The workshop is designed for those, who want to:

  • Allow students to sign up to their own groups;
  • Have students submit group assignments;
  • Determine which students see their learning materials and when.

This workshop will enable you to manage group membership and activities as well as control the availability of materials and activities to students.

After completing this workshop, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the types of groups which can be created in the Group Manager;
  • Create and edit groups of students in your LMS unit;
  • Explain the layout and functionality of the Group Manager and identify strategies to use it effectively;
  • Create group activities such as synchronous and asynchronous discussions and assignments;
  • Use groups as the basis for communicating with students, providing tailored feedback and managing tutor responsibilities;
  • Explain the purpose of each tab in the Selective Release area;
  • Differentiate the options for selectively releasing materials and activities;
  • Use the Selective Release rule to control the availability of materials and view what each student can access.
