In this workshop, the participants will examine a range of strategies for facilitating discussion and running engaging, interactive classes. The workshop is aimed at those who are new to tutoring or looking to develop their teaching skills.

The workshops will be run in such a way as to model the facilitation of a small group teaching session using group discussion and exercises, mini lectures and activities.

At the conclusion of the workshop the participants will:

  • Better understand the purpose of seminars and tutorials and the role of tutor;
  • Be able to establish and maintain a supportive learning environment that recognises and accommodates diversity;
  • Have a range of strategies from which you can draw to engage students in the learning process;
  • Be able to address management issues in the classroom.
