In February 2009 the University Website Office began migrating our School and Centre sites into the Matrix Content Management System. The migration process not only ensures that websites meet objectives of the business unit, but also ensure compliance with the University's draft Web Policy which is due to take effect as of 1 January 2010.

In April, the Centre for Offshore Systems website was the first of the Faculty sites to go live in the new system this year. This was followed by the School of Mathematics and Statistics site, which went live in May. The School of Mechanical Engineering will go live this week and work is currently underway for migrating the School of Civil and Resource Engineering site.

The migration process has been very rewarding for those Schools who have already been involved and has helped to set clear goals for communicating with their target audiences. In addition the Web Office provides statistics and reports on traffic to the site which helps ensure that the needs of the business units are being met and helps them to improve traffic in particular areas.

The process also involves identifying the central source for information so that there is less duplication and out of date information.

The process is helping the Faculty communicate the great work that our staff and students have been undertaking.
