The UWA Motorsport Team are now preparing for the Formula SAE World Championship in Hockenheim Ring, Germany. The team, who will travel to Europe in late July, have completed their car, which has now begun its long journey by sea to Hamburg.

UWA Motorsport has been around since 2001 and has had a very short but proud history, achieving local and international recognition in design. UWA Motorsport has won many titles over the years, including the overall award for Formula SAE Australasia in 2007 and more recently won the 2008 Formula SAE World Championship in Detroit, Michigan. The team hopes to continue this tradition by bringing home the number one title this year.

Students studying Mechanical Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering are designing and building a Renewable Energy Vehicle. The UWA REV project hopes to "revolutionise personal transport" by building vehicles that produce no pollution, powered by electricity from any plug point and viable to both the performance and commercial markets.

In 2008, the team completed their first Electric Vehicle (EV), the REV ECO, a four-wheel, five-seater commuter vehicle, designed for sustained performance over typical commute distances. In 2009, the UWA REV Project will be focused on building the REC RACER, a two-seater performance car using a high performance AC (alternating current) motor and regenerative braking.
