Are you an academic in FECM with experience in developing and delivering short courses for professionals in the infrastructure (e.g. electrical, water, roads, housing), oil and gas, mining and engineering asset-owning communities? If yes, than please contact us!

There is a growing interest from a number of industry groups/ companies in UWA-offered professional development short courses and it would be very useful to have a database of people to contact when we are approached.

The database would be looked after by Jill Stajduhar and Associate Professor Melinda Hodkiewicz . If you are interested in being on this list please contact us by Monday 27 July and attach the following information:

  • Name and Title;
  • School/ Centre;
  • Contact details - phone and e-mail;
  • Name of course(s);
  • Target audience.

Also, we hope on to compile a 2nd list of those who, without experience, are interested in exploring opportunities to do this.

In addition, we want to make you aware that there is an opportunity to deliver your courses as part of an integrated suite of programs aimed at WA organisations. This is being coordinated for 2010 by Suellen Tapsall , Director of the UWA based executive development group AIM-UWA Business School Alliance and its partner AIM WA . More information on this opportunity will be sent around to the mailing list when it is compiled.

AIM WA has a number of skills based courses in Project Management, Six Sigma, Lean, Safety management. They are looking at opportunities to extend their suite of offerings to subjects such as (but not limited to) risk assessment (hazop, fmea), failure analysis, failure prevention, condition assessment programs, process control, sustainability management and process modelling, optimisation models (e.g. for energy minimisation) and other courses that help technical people, engineers and managers retain or upgrade their technical skills.
