The Faculty Strategic Review continues to make progress, with the majority of the review areas currently working on the development of options for the Faculty.

Staff are asked to continue to look at the Strategic Review website , and continue participating and contributing to the review, by making submissions, participating in workshops and keeping up to date with the information from each of the review areas.

Summary of Review Progress

  • The Physical, Information, Communication and Computing Infrastructure (PICCI) Co-Chairs, Professor David Sampson and Associate Professor Mark Reynolds, have recently conducted focus groups, where selected staff were invited to contribute ideas and thoughts around their particular area of work. Two focus groups have been held examining the areas of Physical Infrastructure and IT, Computing and Communication. A third focus group is planned which will examine the area of Laboratories and Workshops. The output notes from the PICCI focus groups can be viewed on the Strategic Review website . The PICCI Co-Chairs will also be holding an open scoping workshop , with details available in the Upcoming Events section below.

  • The Education Strategic Review Area Co-Chairs, Professor James Trevelyan and Associate Professor Gordon Royle, are in the process of releasing their draft Education Options Paper. The paper will shortly be available on the Strategic Review website . Members of the Faculty will have the opportunity to provide feedback on these options at the Education Options workshop , details of which are available in Upcoming Events below.

  • The Industry and Community Partnerships, Foundation and Alumni Co-Chairs, Professor Mark Cassidy and Mr Tim Shanahan, have released their Industry Issues Paper. The paper is available on the Strategic Review website . All members of the Faculty are encouraged to read this and make submissions to this review area.

  • The Governance and Management Co-Chairs are in the process of writing their Issues Paper, which will be released to the Faculty shortly. The presentation given by the Co-Chairs at the recent Governance and Management open workshop, and the details of the feedback provided at that workshop, are now available on the Strategic Review website .

  • The Research Co-Chairs are currently developing their Options Paper. When released this paper will become available on the Strategic Review website .

  • The Strategic Review Co-Chairs attended a workshop on Friday 22nd May. This was an excellent opportunity for all Co-Chairs to collate their ideas and provide input from each of their review areas. The workshop also went towards building a collective understanding of where the review is at and how it should progress.

  • Submissions - Staff are encouraged to make submissions to the Review on any aspect and relating to any of the review areas. This can include current issues faced by the Faculty, or options, models, principles or suggestions for the future. It is important that submissions are made as soon as possible to enable them to be properly considered.
