With many high school students soon to make a decision on their career study path The University of Western Australia is inviting year 10, 11 and 12 as well as mature age students to a series of free information sessions to explain the flexible study options and exciting career opportunities available with a science degree from UWA.

Science at UWA is supported by award winning students and teachers in a wide range of disciplines including Human Biology, Climate Studies, Marine and Sports Science as well as Wildlife Management, Biomedical, Psychology, Agriculture and more.

UWA won all four university categories at the 2008 Premier's Science Awards; WA Young Scientist of the year, WA Science Student of the year (University), WA Scientist of the Year and Excellence in Science Communication Outside the Classroom.

Anatomy and Human Biology Professor Geoff Meyer was this week awarded the highly competitive and prestigious Australian Learning and Teaching Council Teaching Fellowship (2009).  The award is a significant recognition of Professor Meyer's teaching reputation.

In science teaching and research UWA also has a Mawson Medallist, three Federation Fellows (Professors Steven Smith, Leigh Simmons and David Pannell), six Premier's Fellows, a Nobel Laureate, Professor Barry Marshall and Prime Minister's Science Prize winners.
