An informal ceremony was held on Monday 11 May to recognise the winners of International Undergraduate Scholarship's, awarded to six First Year Engineering Students: Pek Ing Au, Jin Seng Chan, Tshun Hung Hong, Choi Seng Leonardo Ling, Gerald Jian Hung Tan and Kim How Lee.

All six students were directed to UWA by the agent Market Management Services (MMS), located in Kuching, Malaysia. Dr Kamy Cheng, Associate Dean International for the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics, has been working with the MMS founders Mr and Mrs Wee since 2003 and has established an exceptional relationship with the agency.

MMS have contributed significantly to UWA's strong reputation in East Malaysia and have been sending quality students to UWA and in particular to the Faculty. As of February 2009, the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics has a total of 17 new students who use MMS as their agent.

Many students began their studies in WA at foundation colleges, and the Faculty was pleased to welcome representatives from Canning College and Tuart College to the scholarship presentation. Other attendees included Faculty staff and UWA International Centre staff Garry Hendy, Kelly Smith and Annabel Turner.

The event was enjoyed by all and the students were honoured to be presented their certificates by the Dean, Winthrop Professor David Smith.
