All Honours and early PhD students are invited to apply for Winter Synchrotron School at the Australian Synchrotron.

The inaugural Australian Synchrotron Science Winter School will be held from the 13 - 16 July, 2009. A comprehensive 4 day program has been developed with the aim of building knowledge of synchrotron techniques and providing hands-on practical experience for young researchers.

The programme will be held at the Australian Synchrotron and will involve hands beamline experiments together with a structured set of lectures by leading experts in the field. Students will be guided through the process of data collection by experienced beamline scientists, and learn about sample mounting, data acquisition and interpretation of the results.

Only one place is available and all expenses (accommodation, catering and travel) will be supported by the Australian Synchrotron. Interested students should forward a brief justification for consideration (less than half an A4 page) and full contact details to Professorial Fellow Charlie Bond (School of Biomedical, Biomolecular and Chemical Sciences, M310) by 5pm on 20th May.

Participation in the Australian Synchrotron's inaugural Winter School is open to all universities in Australia and New Zealand as well as CSIRO, ANSTO and SCION.
