Noted congressional scholar Thomas Mann, of The Brookings Institution, Washington will visit The University of Western Australia this week to give a free public lecture on the politics and policymaking of the new Obama Administration.

Dr Mann will give the benefit of his insight into President Obama's prospects for dealing successfully with major domestic and foreign policy challenges confronting the country and for restoring public confidence in American democracy.

A Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at The Brookings Institution, Dr Mann writes and speaks widely on issues related to campaigns; elections; and the effectiveness of Congress.

Dr Mann's visit to UWA is hosted by the Institute of Advanced Studies and supported by the US Consulate General, Melbourne-based public policy think-tank The Grattan Institute and the University of Melbourne.

WHAT: Public Lecture - "From Campaigning to Governing: Politics and Policymaking in the new Obama Administration'

WHEN: Wednesday, 29 April 2009, from 6pm to 7pm

WHERE: University Club Theatre Auditorium, UWA. The nearest car park is P3 off Hackett Drive Entrance 1.

This lecture is free and open to the public, no RSVP required.
