The Faculty is delighted to announce that Dr Ferdous Sohel, Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the School of Computer Science and Software Engineering, has been awarded the Monash Faculty of Information Technology Doctoral Medal for 2008.

This award is for the research done after becoming a doctoral student. The research must, in the opinion of the FIT Scholarships and Award Sub-Committee, address an important issue in the information technology and communication field (ICT) and demonstrate proven excellence in the program as presented by the quality of publications, awards and any other indication of excellence during the candidature, including a career path after the PhD award.

In evaluating publications only those that formed part of, or arose from, the thesis were considered relevant.
The Committee also valued the contribution that Dr Ferdous Sohel made to the advancement of the research and research training program in the Faculty.
