This week, 21 more senior engineering students completed their training to be employed by the Faculty to be peer tutors for the Faculty's first year students.

The peer tutors completed an application form, submitted a written endorsement from a Faculty staff member, and completed 6 one-hour training sessions on topics including teaching, learning, problem solving, community building, reflective practice, active learning techniques, networking and tips to help first year succeed.

This year, most of the new peer tutors were doing the engineering/commerce or engineering/economics.  The peer tutors are available to anyone studying a first year in the Faculty, and provide drop-in, free one-on-one peer tutoring each Friday, noon, in the Old Senate Room overlooking James Oval.  A team of 4 - 6 tutors is available at this time.
