The Australian Centre for Geomechanics in collaboration with Professor Dick Stacey (University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa) and Professor John Hadjigeorgiou (Université Laval, Canada) is holding its first international seminar on Safe and Rapid Development Mining.

The potential benefits of incremental improvements in development mining will be significant to the mining industry. The seminar will provide opportunities to learn from development mining practices around the world and it will include the following themes:

  • Risk and safety
  • Ground support and rehabilitation
  • Development blasting
  • Equipment and automation
  • Development cycle time and cost optimisation
  • Vertical development: shaft and raises

The Seminar will contain three key events:

ACG - CSIRO Automation Concepts in Mining Development Headings Workshop
4 May 2009, Novotel Langley Hotel, Perth
The workshop will detail some of the technologies required for automation and examines the requirements for their use and applicability in the context of rapid and safe mine development.
