Peter Smith who travelled with his wife, Nerissa from Sydney for the 50th Engineering Reunion of the Class of 1957 said “we saw this as a once in a lifetime event. An opportunity to renew friendships with fellow students, many of whom we had not seen for 50 years. We shared our experiences since graduating. The diversity of work and experience was amazing and underscores the quality of education we received at UWA.”

1957 graduates also attended the Convocation 50th Year Graduation Luncheon, which provided an opportunity to renew friendships with alumni of other faculties. “The organisation of the reunion was excellent. Mr Terry Larder’s University tour was impressive. We particularly enjoyed the tour of the engineering faculty. The event made me proud to be a member of the UWA Alumni.”

The Class of 1983 mechanical engineering graduates celebrated their 25th year in October with activities including a tour of the School of Mechanical Engineering, a lunch at Matilda Bay and a dinner with fellow graduates and their partners at The University Club.

Jeremy Walden and 45 other Class of 1998 graduates celebrated their decade reunion. “It was fantastic to catch up with my class mates and listen to everyone’s stories of triumph and tribulation over the last 10 years. I am delighted that we have not changed too much and for the most part we are all happy in our chosen fields and look forward to enjoyable interactions through the years to come.”

The Class of 1968 continued the UWA engineering reunion tradition with 40 graduates returning and celebrating their 40th Year Reunion. Photographs of their early engineering years were displayed providing graduates with lots of fond memories and laughter.

The Faculty and the Engineering Graduates Association would like to thank Arun D’Souza, David Coulter and Charles Tucak for their generous support in helping to contact fellow graduates. We also thank all our interstate and overseas graduates who were able to join their class and helped make their reunions memorable events.

2009 will be another busy year.
