UWA has eagerly taken on board feedback from staff across the University about our annual Expo, including the preference of many staff for the campus to be a brighter and more exciting place on the day!  As such, Expo is being relaunched in 2009 as the UWA Open Day.

The name, already widely used by prospective students and their teachers, is hoped to more clearly define what the day is about in the minds of the community.  The focus will remain on showcasing the courses UWA has to offer but will be enhanced by the involvement of external organisations and a fun-filled, family atmosphere.

Our Faculty led the way last year with a multitude of displays in and around our buildings and in the marquee on the James Oval.  Not only did we have tours, student ambassadors, dynamic displays and interactive activities for visitors to try (and lots of balloons!), we also invited a number of our close industry partners to come along and join us so they could talk from an employer and career perspective, which was very popular with parents!

Our fantastic team of staff from across the Schools and Centres are always so proactive and enthusiastic and we’d like to ask for more of the same this year, please!  We are eager to surpass last year’s efforts and to offer lots of opportunities for future students and the community at large to get to know just how cutting edge and exciting the pursuit of excellence in engineering, mathematics and computer science is, so please put on your thinking caps as all suggestions are welcome.  The University will be holding Faculty Forums in mid-late April to get together with all of us involved in Expo to discuss the plans and seek feedback.

We will keep you informed with information as it comes to hand but if you have any questions in the meantime, please contact Danni or Kate at [email protected]

Open Day 2009 is Sunday, 9th August: 10.00am – 4.00pm (note the later start time!)
