A pioneer in the use of global climate models as a tool to explain the causes of climatic and environmental change, will give this year's Joseph Gentilli Memorial Address, "Grand Swings in Climate Change: Greenhouse Gas Trends Across Time" at The University of Western Australia tomorrow.

John Kutzbach, Professor Emeritus at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, University of Wisconsin-Madison, has studied present, past and future climates worldwide and shown how changes of climate can impact on the earth's environment and people.

The lecture is part of the Joseph Gentilli Memorial Lecture series, which honours the memory and intellectual legacy of an influential UWA scholar. It will review the evidence for greenhouse gas trends and describe experiments with climate models that examine human and natural factors affecting climate change.
