Over 50 students attended the first peer tutoring session for this semester in the Old Senate Room on the first Friday of semester.

The programme, created by Ms Yola Szymakowski, Associate Dean, First Year is aimed at helping new students adapt to University learning.  Four tutors from later years in their courses help the students with questions about any first year units from engineering, computing and mathematics.  The new students don't have to make an appointment, they just drop into the peer tutoring session and ask for help.

"It was fabulous.  The students were enthusiastic and proactive in their learning," said Ms Szymakowski.

The sessions are held each Friday of semester in the Old Senate Room, Irwin St Building from 12.00pm - 12.45pm.  To find out more about this and other initiative to help first year students, please visit the website .
