The UWA Centenary Trust for Women (CTW) held its sixth annual gala lunch on Sunday 27 July. Some 375 guests attended the event which was hosted by the Chancellor, Dr Michael Chaney AO CitWA and Mrs Rose Chaney. His Excellency Dr Ken Michael AC, Governor of Western Australia and Mrs Michael were guests of honour.
Professor Margaret Seares AO, the University’s Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor and CTW Patron who is stepping down from the SDVC position at the end of the year, was a special guest at the luncheon. Dr Erica Smyth, CTW Patron and Chair acknowledged and thanked Margaret for her many contributions to the trust and to the University of Western Australia.
The guest speaker was Professor Beverley Ronalds, CSIRO’s Group Executive Energy and Chief of the Petroleum Resources Division and the inaugural Chair of the Centre for Oil and Gas Engineering at UWA. Professor Ronalds gave a thought-provoking speech on Our Energy Challenge – a Personal Perspective .
At the lunch, Dr Smyth announced two new CTW scholarships. All five CTW scholarship donors attended and two of the three 2008 scholarship recipients were also present.
Dr Smyth thanked the major sponsor Woodside Energy Ltd, along with other sponsors, including the Water Corporation, for their support and presence on the day.
