To assist this process the Office of Research Enterprise now provides a consultancy and expert opinion service through Research Partnerships Adviser, Alex Attwood.

Successful year for the McCusker Centre for Citizenship

With the year drawing to a close, the McCusker Centre for Citizenship is marking a very successful first 12 months.

Director Michelle Scott says the Centre aims to inspire students to become active, life-long contributors to the community and more than 130 internships were offered to UWA students in 2016.

Finding her voice

Perth-born Casey Kickett has always had a creative side. The Communication Studies and Indigenous Studies graduate realised during high school how much influence mainstream media has on how society views the world and the issues in it.

Now the part-time UWA Associate Lecturer and part-time film-maker is finding her own way to have a voice and influence the world around her.

“I never expected to go to university, and it was terrifying to come to UWA, completely out of my comfort zone.

Water Corp conducting essential maintenance at Shenton Park

The Water Corp has commenced essential maintenance and upgrade work to a wastewater access chamber at Shenton Park. Water Corp have advised the work will have minimal impact to the community and environment.

UWA Mailroom has relocated to Mt Claremont

On Monday the UWA Mailroom relocated to Brooklands Way next to UniPrint in Mt Claremont.

Please note that:

  • internal mail deliveries will not be affected - although there may be minor adjustment to the mail rounds.
  • there is no change to the UWA postal Address.

Urgent or courier items

To facilitate urgent afternoon mail or courier items (for areas that don’t have an afternoon run) we have arranged drop off points around the campus (see below). 

UWA gym and aquatic centre Christmas hours

The Recreation and Fitness Centre will be closed from Saturday 24 December 2016 and will be reopening on Tuesday 3 January 2017.

We will be open from 8am–8pm from Tuesday 3 January to Sunday 8 January with no Group Fitness classes. Normal operating hours and Group Fitness classes will be back from Monday 9 January

But don’t fret, with our foyer renovations set to be completed at the end of December, we will be reopen with an amazing new centre for you to explore! Look out for a tour of the refurbished facilities in UWA Forward next year.

Time is more than two hands on a clock. Time allows us to store many memories and like the board game Snakes and Ladders, my memories in reflection have been mostly ‘up’ moments. I feel blessed!

Substantial improvements in turnaround times for student applications

Throughout 2016 important changes to the way applications are processed have been made resulting in dramatically reduced median turnaround times from student application to offer.

Building on last year’s Admissions Acceleration Project and restructure to bring together both Domestic and International Admissions, the admissions team has worked closely with faculties in 2016 to capture key decision-making criteria and agree a delegated level of authority for assessing non-standard and postgraduate applications.

One of the longest surviving choruses in Australia, the UWA Choral Society invite you to celebrate their 85th anniversary by sharing our love and passion for music in a special one-off performance in UWA’s magnificent Winthrop Hall. The concert will include a selection of songs from UWACS traditional repertoire; the music which the society has held most dear.
