UWA students selected for World University Games

Four UWA students have been selected to represent Australia at the 2017 World University Games (Summer Universiade) in Taipei this August. With selections still continuing for several sports UWA’s representation may increase.

The Summer Universiade, held every two years under the banner of the International University Sports Federation is the premier event in the sporting calendar for universities worldwide.

New recruitment initiative to drive student enrolments

Our world-leading researchers tackle global, regional and local issues. One example is advancing research to feed the world. Despite the significant progress made over the last two decades, more than one billion people around the world still go hungry every day.

Music students impress in Concerto competition

In front of an audience of over 800 at the Perth Concert Hall, accompanied by a full symphony orchestra, UWA honours student Jeremy Garside won the coveted VOSE Memorial Prize Concerto Competition, with his performance of the Shostakovich Cello Concerto No. 1.

The momentum is building towards a celebration of UWA innovation, entrepreneurship and impact at the inaugural UWA IQ Awards which will be held on 14 June 2017.

UWA Woodside Information Session: Ride to Conquer Cancer

UWA is joining forces with Woodside for the Harry Perkins Insitute of Medical Research Ride to Conquer Cancer in October and an information session is being held at UWA to attract participants.

This event has raised $1.5 million over five years and you are invited to hear from the Woodside Team Captain.

Get in on the action – get fit, contribute to a worthy cause and join in on the comradery! You are offered half price registration for this event if you attend this session.

Reid Library nominated for global design award

Last week the Ground Floor Reid Library Refurbishment project won a Shaw Contract Design Market Award (Education category). Thrity-six Market Award winners were selected from a total of 497 entries from 32 countries and the project now goes into the Global Awards program. Winners will be announced later this year.

The project is also up for the People's Choice award which you can vote for here
