The Australian Research Council (ARC) Future Fellowships Funding Rules for 2010 are now available on the ARC website. These fellowships are open to both Australian and overseas applicants and provide an opportunity to attract exceptional mid-career researchers to UWA as well as retaining those already here.
The purpose of the University's Fay Gale Fellowships is to assist academic or professional staff at an early stage in their career to spend a period of time overseas, normally of not less than three months, working in another educational institution.
The NHMRC Project Grant scheme aims to fund research leading to improved health of all Australians. UWA Internal Guidelines with information, handy hints on completing applications, a budget costing template, guidelines on using the NHMRC's RGS application system and links to relevant NHMRC documentation are available on the UWA website.
The brand new Student Experience Centre is currently being developed in the Engineering Civil and Mechanical Building overlooking the lush green grass of James Oval and will accommodate the Student Affairs team for all student enquiries.
The anticipated completion for the new Centre is end of February 2010. In the short term student enquiries are currently being serviced from Level 2, Electrical Engineering Building.
A two-week international summer school in oceanography to improve forecasts of ocean behaviour took place from 11 - 22 January in the UWA. The event attracted 20 lecturers and 70 students from more than 30 countries.
The University of Western Australia has signed a collaborative agreement with the China University of Mining and Technology (CUMT) and the University of Queensland to strengthen cooperation in mining research.
