The following workshops for research students and staff will be presented on 15th and 16th June by Dr Maria Gardiner and Mr Hugh Kearns from Flinders University. These presenters have offered their highly successful workshops at UWA since 2006.
The organiser of the Sustainable Energy Expo, Exibit Exhibitions & Publishing Pty Ltd, invited the UWA REV team to show off their electric vehicle. The Expo ran for three days at the Perth Convention Centre and the stand was staffed by students involved in the project.
UWA will host a major international conference on 8-10 November 2009.
The IN THE ZONE conference will focus on the geopolitical advantages enjoyed by Western Australia in its proximity and shared time zone with Australia's key trading partners in China, Japan, Russia, South Korea, India and South East Asia.
On Thursday, 21st May the Faculty held our annual prize-giving event, only this year it took the format of a breakfast with almost 200 students, staff and prize donors being treated to a sumptuous meal at the University Club.
The Faculty's outreach activities have reached a crescendo in recent weeks, culminating in a three day Career, Education and Employment Expo at the Perth Convention Exhibition Centre attended by a record 12,000 people! The result is that now the option of studying computer science, engineering or maths at UWA is foremost in the minds of many students who perhaps thought it was out of reach or that other universities may be a better choice.
The 91st Annual Engineering, Computing and Mathematics Ball was held at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre (PCEC). Over three hundred students and staff attended the evening, as well as ten representatives from the event sponsor Leighton Contractors.
An informal ceremony was held on Monday 11 May to recognise the winners of International Undergraduate Scholarship's, awarded to six First Year Engineering Students: Pek Ing Au, Jin Seng Chan, Tshun Hung Hong, Choi Seng Leonardo Ling, Gerald Jian Hung Tan and Kim How Lee.
