The Faculty is pleased to announce that the UEC has been awarded the title of Best Faculty society for an unprecedented second year running. Congratulations to all of the students involved, particularly the UEC committee and those who supported them in 2009.
As part of the Australian Government’s Study in Australia 2010 (SIA 2010) initiative to raise Australia’s international education reputation in an increasingly competitive marketplace which was announced by Deputy Prime Minister, the Honourable Julia Gillard MP earlier this year, staff from the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics at UWA have participated in a series of film interviews.
UWA staff members Winthrop Professor Cheryl Praeger, Professor of Mathematics and Australian Research Council Federation Fellow; and Professor Peter Quinn, Director, International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research and Premier's Fellow in Radio Astronomy are two of the three finalists in the Scientist of the Year category.
The University Engineers' Club (UEC) is holding a final year dinner for all graduating students on the 26th October. All staff members are also invited to attend the evening and congratulate final year students on their achievement.
The Faculty is delighted to offer our congratulations to Computer Science and Software Engineering PhD student, Jana Sperschneider, who has been selected as a 2009 ANZ Anita Borg finalist. As a finalist, Jana will travel to Sydney to attend the Anita Borg Scholars Retreat. Selected participants from the retreat will then travel to America for the world finals.
