On 15 September 2018, CTEC held their annual Critical Care Medicine Conference at The University Club of Western Australia. The conference was officially opened by The Honourable Roger Cook MLA, Deputy Premier; Minister for Health and Minister for Mental Health.

Designed to “fill the gaps” of subspecialist knowledge for those who treat critical care patients on an irregular basis, the sold out event was attended by 50 medical participants ranging from junior doctors and consultants to nurses and medical students.

Highly regarded specialists from Emergency Medicine, Intensive Care, Radiology, Anaesthesia, Cardiology, Obstetrics and Gynaecology presented case studies, tips and the latest techniques on ways to manage and monitor critically ill patients of that particular subspecialty.

Participant feedback has been excellent, with guests saying it was a very informative day with a variety of topics and speakers who have an incredible wealth of knowledge and experience.

CTEC Conferences began back in 2012 due to the lack of direct contact between surgical subspecialist providers and rural general practitioners on ways to handle emergency situations without immediate hospital and medical facilities.

Since then 14 CTEC conferences have been held across Perth and Bunbury with over 900 participants attending, 95% coming from WA (rural and metro) and 4% from over east.

All of CTEC’s conferences have received RACGP, ACRRM accreditation and RACS (where applicable).
