As part of the Teaching Excellence Initiatives, the Office of the DVCE is supporting academic and professional staff to develop their own Communities of Practice (CoP) for innovation and best practice in higher education. Up to $20,000 will be awarded to each CoP as a form of support.

The Communities of Practice model (based on the work of Wegner and Lave) brings together a group of people with a passion or a common concern who meet, both physically and virtually, to grow their knowledge and expertise through regular interaction.

Communities of Practice provide informal learning opportunities; enhance knowledge and dialogue around the shared theme; promote innovation; and allow teams of individuals to share and develop best practice collectively.

All staff are encouraged to liaise with their colleagues to create a CoP, and staff wanting to lead a CoP should submit an Expression of Interest by 1st November, 2018.

Staff interested in being a member rather than a leader of a CoP will have the opportunity to join once the Communities are established in late November.
