Opening batsman and UWA student athlete Will Bosisto will lead Western Australia into the opening round of the Futures League against Tasmania today at Lilac Hill.
The choice of Bosisto as captain will come as no surprise to those familiar with the right-handed batsman and his quality on the field. A recent addition to UWA Sport’s Student Athlete Development Program, Bosisto also captains the University Cricket Club.
The call up for Bosisto comes after he travelled with the WA senior team to Sydney for the JLT One Day Cup.
WACA Talent Development Manager David Fitzgerald was full of praise for the squad and the captain in particular.
“Getting Bosisto back to captain the side is really positive, he’s a strong leader, a great player and a top bloke.”
With Bosisto hitting some big runs in the opening round of Western Australian Premier Cricket, there is a hope he will be able to mirror the success of the top order of the men’s senior team, who have been putting up big totals in their recent run of form.
Playing alongside Bosisto in the squad is Scorchers and Warriors paceman Joel Paris and UWA student Alex Bevilaqua , a towering speedster and star of the future.
The match at Lilac Hill will be played from today until 19 October, and then WA will face ACT/NSW Country at Richardson Park in South Perth.
