A resident at Sir Thomas Moore College, and undergraduate student at The University of Western Australia, Lauren has been drafted as a Kayaking athlete in the elite programs latest sweep! As part of her selection she was recently invited to attend a training program at the AIS headquarters in Canberra where she met with coaches, fellow elite sportsman and the team of staff that make Australian Athletes some of the best in the world!
The athletes were welcomed at a formal address before hitting the elite strength and conditioning gym for a lesson in how to train to be a top athlete. Speaking on the experience Lauren told us: “We certainly learnt a thing or two on how to properly execute exercises in order to avoid injuries, and maximise results which is invaluable to us”. In the coming days, Lauren and her fellow team, took on team building exercises, Navy Seal lead PT sessions, and a (much needed) trip to the recovery centre. However Lauren assures us it wasn’t all business, with some great laughs along the way! Congratulations Lauren – we can’t wait to see what happens next!
