In September 2014, thirty seven UWA students were chosen to participate in the International Conference of Undergraduate Research 2014, eleven of whom presented their research on a global scale to leading academics and researchers from six universities spanning four continents.

UWA participated in the conference via real time video conferencing, connecting aspiring postgraduate researchers with over two hundred participants from leading universities across Warwick University (Coventry), Monash University (Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur), University of Washington (Washington), Baruch College - The City University of New York (New York), Nanyang Technological University (Singapore) and Singapore Management University (Singapore).

The conference, which began as part of an alliance between Monash University and Warwick University in 2013, aims to develop the research skills of the next generation of scholars by providing opportunities for students to present their research on a global scale and to have their research published in an international journal – ‘Reinvention: An International Journal of Undergraduate Research’.

Cheryl Koh, a second year Bachelor of Science student originally from Singapore found the event inspiring.

“ICUR was a wonderful opportunity to exchange ideas and gain valuable feedback on my research.  It has definitely been a highlight of my degree so far at UWA!” said Cheryl.

UWA encourages undergraduate students interested in either volunteering or participating in the 2015 program to register interest. Contact Andrea Fraser (Projects Officer, Vice Chancellery) for more information [email protected] .
