We have won gold - and the Commonwealth Games haven't even started yet.
The University's Centenary celebrations won Grand Gold in an international awards program.
CASE , the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, is a professional association for educational institutions and the advancement of professionals who work on their behalf in alumni relations, communications, development, marketing and allied areas.
The CASE Grand Gold Award was the result of UWA winning gold in the special event and year-long categories.
The crown of the Centenary celebrations last year was LUMINOUSnight, which brought what some people estimated to be 50,000 people to the Crawley campus. The focus, LUMINOUShall, and other inspiring and entertaining performances and displays marked the start not only of a year of celebrations but the hugely successful Centenary Alumni Weekend, which brought together more than 1,000 alumni from all over Australia and some from overseas.
Throughout the year, the UWA Gives Back program took goodwill, education, research and cultural exchange to rural and regional communities. Every Faculty and group held its own events to commemorate the University's 100 th anniversary. The Centenary Open Day was a huge success, and Centum, the big 100 which took on its own personality, popped up everywhere over the 12 months.
The year culminated with the launch of the New Century Campaign, which has already raised $210 million to support students, research, teaching and learning.
CASE is one of the world's biggest non-profit educational associations, with nearly 74,000 members from more than 3,600 institutions in 82 countries. It was founded in 1974 as the result of a merger between the American Alumni Council and the American College Public Relations Association.
Its headquarters are in Washington DC.
