UWA graduates continue to feature in the annual 40 under 40 Western Australian business awards. They make up nearly a third of the list of winners of the prestigious survey conducted by Business News .

The highly-anticipated list includes WA business owners or executives who have succeeded at the highest level before reaching their 40 th birthdays.

They must show remarkable leadership or exceptional entrepreneurship and stand out from the crowd.

The diamond dozen from UWA this year include three graduates from the Faculty of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics: Bernard Chia, Managing Director of Alyka Pty Ltd; Darren Lomman, Chief Executive Officer and founder of the Dreamfit Foundation; and Jarrad Mahon, Director of Investors Edge Real Estate.

A graduate from Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, Dr Daniel Heredia, Director of Medical Services at Hollywood Private Hospital, is also in the top group.

Clay Cook, Chief Executive of Bonfire, Mark Wallace, Executive Director of Blue Zoo, and Reuben Taylor, Director of Business Wealth Educators are all winners from the Business School.

The list includes two Science graduates: Morgan O'Connell, Director of Biological Environmental Survey Pty Ltd; and Darren Kam, Managing Director of Constructive Media Pty Ltd.

Mark Borello (Law), Managing Director of Borello Legal Pty Ltd, and Irina Cattalini (Arts), Chief Executive Officer for the WA Council of Social Services, complete the University's swag of top young executives.

Ms Cattalini, the only woman in the list of UWA graduates, also won the UWA Strategic Alliance Award.

When you consider that there are five universities in WA and that it is now 40 years since UWA was the only one in the state, these results are even more impressive for the University.
