More than $210,000 has been awarded in the first-ever round of Alumni Annual Fund Grants, thanks to the generosity of UWA alumni. The Alumni Annual Fund (AAF) engages support from our alumni around the world for much-needed scholarships, innovative access programs, such as Fairway, and a range of creative and inspiring projects around campus. It is spearheaded by a team of talented student callers, who engage with UWA alumni, update them on campus events and seek donations to support current and future students of the University.
Director of Development, Jo Agnew , said the inaugural round of Alumni Annual Fund Grants exceeded her expectations, with 89 applications received from across UWA.
"Our Alumni Annual Fund donors are keen to hear how their gifts have made a difference so these successful projects will be wonderfully inspiring examples. Our student callers are in the middle of our latest telephone campaign to inspire more alumni to support similar projects in the future," she said.
The AAF Grants Committee, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, met in September to discuss the inaugural applications, choosing to support 11 diverse projects that enhance the student experience and benefit the UWA community. These projects ranged from promoting mental health awareness on campus, to placing visual arts students in remote Aboriginal art centres and developing a UWA app for student engagement.
