R ESEARCH ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR

Research Associate Professor Wendy Davis (Fremantle Hospital Unit, School of Medicine and Pharmacology)

Wendy Davis joined the University Department of Medicine, Fremantle Hospital, in 1995, as a Research Assistant working on the Fremantle Diabetes Study.  She was appointed as Research Officer in 1997 to co-ordinate clinical trials in diabetes and in 2004 to Research Assistant Professor following completion of her PhD.

Her research objective is to perform high quality epidemiological and health economic research that will significantly improve the health of Australians suffering from diabetes.  She is achieving this objective by undertaking internationally recognised research focussed on gaining a greater understanding of the natural history of diabetes.  In addition she is contributing to other areas such as clinical trials in malaria, stroke and intensive care medicine, and the epidemiology of Alzheimer's disease and vascular dementia.

She is contributing to the ongoing education and promotion of research at both professional and community levels so that the outcomes of her research can be communicated to medical professionals and the general community to ensure the best health outcomes for all Australians.
