Dear colleagues,
You should be aware by now of our pleasing result in the ARWU ranking by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University - 91 in the world, 4 th in Australia and retaining our position in Life and Agricultural Sciences (26), Clinical Medicine and Pharmacy (51-75) and Chemistry (76-100).
It capped a week of positive research and teaching news, including a $26m, five-year State Government funding commitment for the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research - our joint venture with Curtin University.
Although we won't be resting on our laurels in research, I encourage you to also turn your attention to the development of the University's vision for teaching.
Led by Helen Wildy and Alec Cameron, the UWA Education Futures Vision will map out our education plans for the coming years.
As part of our core mission, teaching and learning should be of interest to everyone at UWA and I encourage input from as wide a range of staff as possible.
Read the vision statement and take part in the online discussions .
Paul Johnson
Vice-Chancellor
