Albany can be proud of two UWA Albany Centre students who were recently awarded UWA scholarships. Kiara Torr and Hiedi Rowe were both recpients of the Hedi Szasz Scholarship and the UWA SWANS Scholarship.

‘The Hedi Szasz scholarship is open to students on the Perth campus as well as Albany so it's quite competitive,' said Ms Rowe. ‘It's based on merit but it's also an award that recognizes that it can be difficult to for students to keep up their studies for various reasons. I think that can be especially true for students living in regional areas, so the scholarship is very welcome'.

Ms Torr was quick to point out that there were also advantages in studying at a regional campus. ‘UWA Albany is a very supportive environment and I like that I get to know all the staff and students. It's a great community,' she said.

‘The Hedi Szasz Scholarship is awarded to only two students each year and I'm very delighted that two UWA Albany students are the successful recipients. It is recognition that students are receiving high quality educational experiences here as well as a testament to the hard work and achievement of our two students' said Jennifer O'Neil, Albany Centre Director.

Hiedi Rowe was also awarded the Centenary Trust for Women Elizabeth Sarfaty Scholarship.
