The new UWA Albany Master of Teaching course was launched at the UWA Albany Centre recently.
The pre-service preparation course, run in conjunction with the University of Western Australia's Faculty of Education, attracted students from a variety of backgrounds, from the health profession, to the retail environment and arts industry. All are excited to be enrolled and commencing their studies for a career in either Early Childhood or Primary teaching.
This two-year full-time or three/four-year part-time course features intensive block teaching sessions along with practical face-to-face contact in a range of classroom environments.
"We're very proud that the Master of Teaching course is commencing with such a high caliber group of students from diverse backgrounds. Their work and life experiences will stand them in good stead for their new career as a teacher," said Albany Centre Director Jennifer O'Neil.
"This course is specifically designed to equip the students with all the skills and knowledge they will require to be successful in the profession," said course coordinator Val Faulkner. "It's exciting that this opportunity is available for people in the Great Southern and will provide schools in the region with a pool of highly qualified, proficient teachers".
There is the opportunity for prospective students to enrol in second semester. Enquiries to the Albany Centre on 9842 0888 or [email protected].
