UWA Publishing has sold the rights to the English translation of
The Walls of Delhi
, by New Delhi writer Uday Prakash, to publishers in India and the United States.
UWA Publishing obtained the world English rights for
The Walls of Delhi
in 2011, and recently sold the English translation of the book to Hachette India and Seven Stories Press in New York.
The Walls of Delhi
, a collection of three stories by
Uday Prakash
, has been translated into English from Hindi by
Jason Grunebaum
, who translated Prakash's previous novel
The Girl with the Golden Parasol
.
"It is really thrilling news for us that our book has been picked up by these two huge markets", Director of UWA Publishing, Professor Terri-ann White said.
Professor Terri-ann White and the UWA Publishing team feel privileged to be bringing both local and international stories to Australian readers.
"Attending the Frankfurt Book Fair for five years reminded me of the array of world stories we often don't get to read as a (largely) monolingual Australian audience."
UWA Publishing has published English translations of several fiction books since 2009, including an upcoming Danish thriller,
The Children
by Ida Jessen, being released in October.
