Future mining leaders at
The University of Western Australia's Business School
will get a helping hand thanks to a
$15,000 scholarship
being offered with the financial support of mining focused private equity company Resource Capital Funds and mining companies St Barbara, Ausenco and Trafigura Beheer BV.
The Mining Leaders Scholarship is offered each year to up to two students who demonstrate academic achievement, an interest in mining or resources, and leadership skills or potential.
In addition to receiving financial support, scholarship winners join an elite group of scholarship alumni and gain mentoring and networking opportunities.
The inaugural Mining Leaders Scholarship Alumni Dinner, hosted by the UWA Business School and James McClements, Managing Partner, Resource Capital Funds, was held in June 2011. Past and current scholarship recipients, including graduates now working in mining consultancy, gathered at The University Club of Western Australia to share their experiences.
The Mining Leaders Scholarship was established in 2007 by James McClements, and is now supported by Resource Capital Funds, St Barbara, Ausenco, and Trafigura Beheer BV.
The Mining Leaders Scholarship is available to citizens or permanent residents of Australia who wish to undertake full-time postgraduate MBA studies, or an honours or master's degree by coursework in commerce or economics. It is also available to combined degree students with an engineering, geology, or resource economics component to their studies.
Applications close 24 February 2012. For more information, contact Lisa Gorey, Faculty Administrative Officer, on +618 6488 2884 or by email at
