Congratulations to three Biomedical Sciences students for winning prizes at the 2018 Combined Biological Sciences Meeting (CBSM).
Nicole Bzdyl took out the overall prize at CBSM, the ECU New Investigator Award for her presentation on 'Folding your way to pathogenicity; The essential role of Peptidyl-Prolyl Isomerase ppiB in Burkholderia pseudomallei." Nicole is co-supervised by Dr Mitali Sarkar Tyson, Professor Tim Inglis and Associate Professor Charlene Kahler.
Melissa Koh received the ASM Poster Prize for her poster entitled "Development and Optimisation of U937 Macrophages and Zika Virus infection and screening of novel antivirals." Melissa is co-supervised by Dr Mitali Sarkar Tyson, Dr Jua Iwasaki and Dr Allison Imrie.
Alice Michie won the One Health Symposium prize for best student oral presentation for her talk "Investigating the Phylogeography of Ross River Virus in Western Australia and the Pacific Islands through Whole Genome Sequencing Techniques." Alice is a PhD student and is supervised by Dr Allison Imrie, Clinical Professor David Smith and Professor John Mackenzie.
