As part of National Safe Work Month and to celebrate Mental Health Week (7-14 October) we are encouraging Faculty staff to take some time out for their own mental health and wellbeing. Mental Health Week is all about community and the various settings we go to every day where we can support the wellbeing of ourselves and others: 'Mental health starts where we live, learn, work and play'.
The Week of Wellness will feature a series of events including the launch of new training materials on our LMS, a BBQ being hosted at QEIIMC and the opportunity win a prize for making a small promise to improve your mental health.
The Zen at Work Mindfulness session delivered by a Bupa Health Consultant provides an accessible introduction to the notion of mindfulness, with guidance on how to live more in the moment and train your mind to have a rest occasionally. Simple meditation exercises are explained and tips for staying focused and relaxing at will are provided.
